Ryukyu Glass

Ryukyu Glass
Okinawan glass making is said to have a history of about 100 years, dating back to the Meiji Period. Officially recognized as a traditional craft as late as 1998, Ryukyu glass was created from raw materials of empty beer and soda bottles discarded from US military bases.

The colors and bubbles of the glass reflect the oceans and coral reefs of Okinawa.
